Easy to find, kind of hidden out of the way from the main street but easily findable by taxies and by google maps. Super clean and always smelled like incense, really quiet too. We were placed on the floor with the smoking area (4F), but nothing smelled at all unless you actually went into the smoking booth. Staff super helpful and kind; ask them for directions, restaurant recommendations, reservation help, etc. and they got it. Just be ready to use google translate probably. First floor has most bath amenities available to grab n go, not placed in room (ie. bath scrubbers, razors, shower caps, extra toothbrushes/pastes, etc). 2nd floor bath was small and there’s an indicator for how crowded it is, open til late through the night and restocked quite frequently. Found it easier to shower there than in the room, which was a bit small, even for a double twin room. But there is only one bath at one fairly nice temperature, probably wouldn’t go if it was too full though. Bath had lockers for valuables and shoes, but you have to take your own towel and pick up essentials other than soap from the lobby (ie. shower caps, razors, scrubbers, etc). They provide cute bathrobe top and bottoms in japanese style and slipper clips so you don’t lose your slippers. Room itself was honestly really small, but had everything we needed. Loved that they had a humidifier and a pitcher to fill it up, helped avoid some nosebleeds; a little weird that the sink was outside in the room (rather than in the restroom), but honestly it made it easier to share the restroom. Toilet equipped with a bidet and facilities all pretty clean. USB plugs next to each bed and easy-to-reach buttons to shut off all lights from the bed. Beds weren’t the BEST, honestly kinda more like a futon thickness, but clean and provided 3 great pillows so no complaints.

Made a last-minute change to this property, and we were very happy with the decision. Beautiful hotel, rooms were very clean, centrally located near train stations, famous Nishiki market, shopping, restaurants, attractions, and more. We booked 2 rooms, and both were comfortable, very modern, and minimalistic with enough space, but wished for more closet space. Customer service was excellent. Friendly and very accomodating staff checked us all in very early, after our long flight and train ride from Tokyo, they helped us with restaurant reservations, directions, and suggestions in the area; most staff spoke English with some help of translation app. Check in and out was easy. We did not get a chance to visit their restaurant and public bath for guests only, which is a rarity, but we will next time. The property is very unique, situated above the historic "Torodo Jokyo-ji Temple," which boasts over 500 years of history. The hotel showcases precious artifacts from Jōkōji throughout its premises, creating a unique experience. We definitely will consider this property again when visiting Kyoto and maybtry others in when in Tokyo. Thanks to staff for their hospitality. @eztravelandfood Tip: the Kyoto Coffee across the street is the bomb

The staff is extremely polite, friendly and trying to help. There is a sauna for both men and ladies, which is honestly something out of this world. Rooms are quite spacious and convenient The interior is stylish and fresh, the location is just right I didn't like the breakfast though. The European one wasn't super, while I wasn't ready for too many pickles in the morning for a Japanese cuisine The staff is wow, but I was so surprised when we found out that some of them literally don't understand English. They do have an AI translator, but we had a few confusing situations because the receptionist mixed the words In general, I would definitely recommend them, especially because the staff is so comforting regardless of the language disability

Tastefully decorated to incorporate a nearby historic temple, the staff is so friendly and helpful. We rented kimonos and they gave us suggestions for where to take photos and communicated the destination to the cabbie. They also took a picture of us with a Polaroid camera and gave us the picture. The onsen was peaceful and lovely. We went twice in the middle of the night due to jet lag. It was a great way to relax, even if we weren’t sleeping. We also very much enjoyed the Japanese breakfast, which comes with a small and delicious buffet. We went twice, even though we hadn’t prepaid for it. A wonderful place all around!

Room was spotlessly clean and very spacious by Japanese standards. I liked the Japanese style decor in the room and lobby area. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Green tea, coffee and water were replenished daily. Staff were all very friendly. The Breakfast was very good with a menu with Japanese and western options and a small buffet. The location is great. There are lots of restaurants nearby and Shijo subway station, Kyoto-Kawaramachi Station and Gion-Shijo Station are all within a 10 minute walk.
